Ground Segment
The Odin Ground Segment comprises:
- a control centre (Odin Control Centre: OCC) developed under SSC's responsibility, at Esrange, which:
- receives, decommutates and archives telemetry
- pre-processes telemetry to generate level 0 files
- monitors the satellite,
- uplinks telecommands.
- a mission centre also developed under SSC's responsibility, at Solna near Stockholm, which generates instruments' workplans in accordance with the science needs and satellite constraints
- a Parallel Data Centre (PDC) in Stockholm under the responsibility of the Royal Institute of Technology, which:
- archives level 0, 1A and 1B products for the two instruments (SMR and OSIRIS)
- distributes the data to the production centres
- updates a catalogue of available products in the archive, this catalogue being accessible through a web server
- distributes products to users
- a production centre for Level 1A and 1B SMR products, developed under the responsibility of the Chalmers University
- a production centre for Level 1-OSIRIS products, developed under the Canada's responsibility at Saskatoon University
- a production centre for Level 2-OSIRIS products, in Finland
- a production and archive centre for Level 2-SMR/Aeronomy products, developed under MISU's responsibility in Stockholm
- a French Ground Segment, to process Level 2 SMR aeronomy and level 1 SMR astronomy products, which comprises:
- an astronomy Odin Data Management System installed at CNES in Toulouse
- an aeronomy scientific processing unit at the ETHER data hub at the Pierre Simon Laplace Institute (IPSL)
